š§ Letās Talk Mental Health ā Breaking the Stigma, Building Resilience
Good morning.
š© Your weekly reminder: the best investment you can make is in yourself.
š§ Letās Talk Mental Health: Breaking the Stigma, Building Strength
Mental health isnāt just about avoiding burnout or bouncing back from stressāitās a cornerstone of overall wellbeing. And just like your Physical Health, itās something you can train, protect, and build over time.
At Physical and Mental, we believe these conversations shouldnāt be reserved for awareness months or crisis points. That said, Mayārecognised internationally and in places like the U.S. as Mental Health Awareness Monthāis still a powerful moment to spotlight the message. It reminds us that mental health matters every day, not just in October, when we mark Mental Health Month here in Australia.
Wherever you are, whenever you're reading thisātalking about how we feel, seeking support, and checking in with our mates isnāt seasonal. Itās essential.
Because real strength isnāt just built in the gymāitās built in the everyday moments where we show up for ourselves and others.
š Mental Health in Australia (and Globally)
š§ 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental health condition in any given year.
š§āāļø Over 45% will experience one in their lifetime.
š Depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders are the most common.

But behind these stats are real peopleāfriends, teammates, colleagues, maybe even youātrying to cope, grow, and feel more like themselves.
š§© Why This Matters for You
Poor mental health doesnāt always look like a breakdown. It can look like:
Trouble sleeping
Low motivation or drive
Being easily overwhelmed or irritable
Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
Physical tension, fatigue, or burnout
These are signsānot failures. And theyāre often signals from your mind and body asking you to slow down, check in, and re-centre.
š ļø Mental Resilience is Trainable
Just like you train your muscles, you can train your mind. It starts small:
ā
Movement ā Exercise releases endorphins and reduces stress. Even a 20-minute walk helps.
ā
Mindfulness ā Breathwork, meditation, or quiet reflection sharpens awareness and soothes the nervous system.
ā
Journaling ā Helps process thoughts and reduce overwhelm.
ā
Connection ā Talking to a mate, mentor, or therapist can shift your perspective.
ā
Nature ā Green space exposure improves mood and reduces stress.
ā
Routine ā Sleep, meals, hydration, and downtime matter more than we think.
š¬ Breaking the Stigma
Letās be clear:
š§ Seeking support is strengthānot weakness.
š£ļø Talking about your struggles doesnāt make you dramaticāit makes you human.
šÆ Wanting to feel better doesnāt mean youāre brokenāit means youāre self-aware.
Whether itās opening up in conversation, seeking therapy, or simply acknowledging how you feel todayāevery step counts.
